WBP Holds Successful Showcase Using State-of-the-Art Technology in Baseball

SAN ANTONIO DE GUERRA – With the participation of 66 players from the 2020, 2021 and 2022 classes, the first Caribbean Baseball Prospects Showcase was successfully held, organized by the prospects platform Wacth Baseball Players (WBP).

For three days, players from different baseball positions showed their tools in practices and games, measured by the latest generation technological devices Blast Motion, Rapsodo and Pocket Radar.

The event included the participation of Plácido Polanco, once a star Major League player and immortal of the Dominican Sports Hall of Fame, and also a partner and corporate image of WBP, who gave a motivational talk to young people, exhorting them to fight for their dreams regardless of their size or social status, and to see other possibilities of study playing baseball.

Major League Baseball organizations that attended to evaluate talent included the San Francisco Giants, Los Angeles Dodgers, Cleveland Indians and Washington Nationals.

In addition, Joe Rodríguez, a talent scout from the North American institution for scholarship management “Get a Chance” and representative from Vanderbilt, Tennessee and Nashville universities was present.

Full of enthusiasm, dreams and eager to achieve their goal in baseball, the young players arrived from the cities of Jarabacoa, San Francisco de Macorís, La Vega, Samaná, Santiago, San Cristóbal, Higüey, San Pedro de Macorís and Santo Domingo . Some were accompanied by their parents.

Each player was created a profile on the WBP platform, on its website wbp.com.do, where all their performance metrics and videos will be available.

This first WBP showcase was held at the facilities of the former Atlanta Braves academy, in the municipality of San Antonio de Guerra, following health protocols to combat the Covid-19 pandemic.

Featured Players

Among the players who stood out the most in the event was shortstop Adrián Casoliba Castro, a prospect from the class of 2022, who made a good impression on the scouts in attendance with his defensive ability and his bat. During games, Castro hit a pair of doubles and a single, dropping in 4 runs in six at-bats.

Also, from the group of pitchers Carlos Espinal stood out hitting 95 miles per hour and from the outfielders Alex Gabriel Laba stood out, running 6.2 seconds at 60 yards.
